Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Ketamine is shown to be safe and a first line of treatment for depression in teens. I currently work with ages 15 yrs and up with the understanding that family involvement is essential to the process when working with adolescents. With this in mind, the typical protocol may involve more preparation and integration sessions.https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2023.1141988/full
Cannabis Assisted Psychedelic Therapy
I adhere to the state of Virginia Legal Guidelines, age 21 yrs and up. -
I do not provide the medicine.
For Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, you will be given a referral to a Prescribing Physician who will see you by Zoom to complete a medical evaluation. Ketamine lozenges will be shipped to your home and you will bring them to the medicine session. We will discuss proper storage and safety of your medicine.
For Cannabis Assisted Therapy, you will be asked to bring your own flower. We will discuss this in the initial preparation session.
I do not keep any medications on site for clients and thus appointments will be rescheduled if medicine is not brought for scheduled medicine sessions.

Yes and no. My approach in working with couples involves a detailed intake to understand the intention of the couple but also to understand what each individual is currently going through. In the past, I have started to work with individuals with the medicine before bringing the couple together for a medicine session. Helping individuals come into alignment for themselves, also brings a clarity to the intention for couples work.

Ketamine is a safe and effective medicine to use for PPD. A limited study done by Wolfson et al, shows that ketamine is generally cleared or at low levels in breast milk at 12 hrs following dosing. Therefore avoiding breastfeeding and pumping and dumping is recommended for 12-24 hours after a session.

Psychedelic therapies are often intense, complex experiences and involve not only the mind, but the body and spirit as well. While the future of psychedelic therapies may be done by Social Workers and Psychotherapists, who have experience in holding their clients mental and spiritual health, Nurses are trained to support and encompass the whole client: mind, body and spirit. Nurses provide the calm, caring and confident demeanor that you would want to be present during a medicine session, much like a doula assisting a woman in labor. As a nurse coach in this field, I provide holistic health coaching around the psychedelic medicine sessions and work within that scope of practice.
